This song is more about creating a feeling than any one thing in particular. When I wrote it I had a lot of things changing in my life, not all of them I was one-hundred percent happy about. This song hopefully captures that feeling of being disowned and lost. There's a little bit of Mariachi and prodigal son references I threw in to try and capture that.
